Hello Kitty Island Adventure includes automatic camera movement as you roam about the island across various terrains. This movement is indeed helpful when it comes to the ease of visuals as you move around, however, I've gotten annoyed with it a couple of times and it made me miss a couple of chests/supplies when it auto-adjusted as I was walking, so just be wary there might be things in corners you'll miss because of the adjustment.Â
Observation 2: Teleporting Across The Map
As an Animal Crossing Veteran, having the ability to teleport across the map is a huge advantage to the game. I love this addition and the involvement of Cinnamoroll in this feature. You also do not have to be at a mailbox to teleport to another location which is really nice.Â
Observation 3: Ghoul Babies!!!
There are various uses for the helpers around the islands that we call in The Garden of Ghouls "Ghoul Babies" but in the game, they are called Nuls. They are super useful and a wonderful layer to a game like Hello Kitty Island Adventure; Although I may be biased as the spooky queen herself. Utilize quests involving Nuls as much as you can on day 1. The more help you get the merrier!Â
It is CRUCIAL on your first day to harvest ALL of the resources on the island and use them sparingly for quests and gift-giving. I wouldn't over-craft, as the game gives you prompts when you get a new recipe and a lot of the recipes fall in line with quests. As an ADHD gamer, it's hard for me not to want to speed run the intro game, however, it is crucial to collect as many resources as you can on day 1 and beyond. Spend your first day getting familiar with your new friends, exploring all areas of the different terrains, unlocking fast travels, and gathering resources.
In addition to the last point, its important to pay attention to the islanders' gifts, what they drop for you, and what they are interested in themselves. The better gifts you give that tick more of their "liked item" boxes the better and the more you'll level them up on your first day. You'll need Keromi to be level 6 to start the Scuba Gear quest so I'd recommend giving her as high of a quality of gifts as you can so you can explore the underwater areas of the map as soon as possible. I like to have the map fully available to me (at least what I can see from the map's initial overview) on Day 1. If you're like me, ensure you get that Scuba Quest as far along as possible.
While you're exploring pay attention to which terrains supply which resources as this will help you later in the game when you need to craft or harvest something specific. You can do so with confidence knowing where these spawns are and can more accurately use island reset bouquets to get the most out of your day (if you have these available). When you gather resources look at the items' qualities and see if they line up with any islanders likes, this could help you when crafting better gifts down the road. If you need a quick resource for where to find certain items, check out the xoGhoulBlog Post on Resource Management.Â
The Gudetama, as cute as they are, are TINY. Make sure as you are exploring the island on your first day that you take ALL the pictures you can to help with quests and make your life easier as you play. Top Hat Gudetama is a nightmare to find as a weekly reset quest, so make sure you are checking every nook and cranny as you go to help with this. If you cannot find him and its baring the end of the week, use this resource to help you, but I recommend finding him yourself as you go it's more satisfying that way (because Top Hat Gudetama is a b*tch lol).Â
Your stamina bar starts rather pathetically weak. If you get an opportunity to level up your stamina focus on that quest and grind for those Golden Apple Slices. It'll help out a lot and I promise it does get better!
Be patient with the normal chests with silver locks. You don't get "keys" per se, but you'll unlock them with future quests so skip over them for now and focus on the ones around the islands that you can rip open off the jump. Ignore the coral chests as well - they'll open as you progress in the game and gather resources to do so!Â
If you unlock the daily chest & collection null (you'll know what this is if you have it), wait until right before 2 am ET (reset time) or at the end of your day playthrough, so you can check to see how many of each item is available to collect on the island and use Island Bouquet resets more accurately. This helps monitor your resources and get the most out of your day!
Be patient with the game when it comes to the tedious one donation and one item gifted at a time. You'll be able to muli-select items as you level up characters and it'll get easier to quickly donate items or gift 3 of the same 3-star item to an islander as you play.
To place items on tables when decorating, exit decor mode after your table is in place and walk up to it to select something to place on it.
I found out while playing that you can hit RB on the controller to quickly cycle through your tools instead of going into the selection menu itself.
Your photos you save while in camera mode in the game will be saved to your Steam screenshots. In Steam in the top left corner select "View" and at the bottom should be "Recordings & Screenshots". You can find your photos here!
I hope this helps you get started on Hello Kitty Island Adventure! Xo, Kale
